The early influences of Bad Brains with their thrashy metal guitar riffs, hard hitting Moon drums and surf-Seeds-Clash tonal overlays, gave songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Christian Pelonis his roots to the scene, adding in nods to Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains. His sound is deep, personal, relatable with a tonal quality that comes both innately to his DNA and attributed to a 24/7 life of music.
For gigs, he is performing mostly as a solo artist and occasionally with his first band, Stolen Thunder , their latest at the grand opening of Alan Parson's new recording studio, opening for Nancy Wilson of Heart and opening for Dishwalla. He is currently jamming with a new band, GrayWire. Add in Foo Fighters Taylor Hawkins drumming for Apogee in his studio playing the Stolen Thunder original release, "Down In Flames".
“In an age where the guitar is more about finger gymnastics than music, it’s refreshing to hear a young player who is all about the notes. Don’t get me wrong. He has plenty of chops. He just knows when to use them, and more importantly - when not to. Every solo sounds like it was grown organically from the song itself. Never a forced note. This is the way the guitar should be played - at least if you want to impress me. ”
